Bride Rovers V Bantry Blues

Bantry Blues U13s travelled to Rathcormac on Sunday last to play Bride Rovers in the 2nd round of the Premier 2(1) Football League.

The game started at frantic pace with the much physically bigger home team attacking the visitors from the off, however magnificent defending from the full back line of Kyle OLeary, Jack ODonoghue & Conor Cronin cleared the lines to set up some great attacking moves with corner forward Ronan OSullivan scoring an excellent point to open the scoring. Bride Rovers from the kickout moved the ball well to weave their way to rattle the blues net.The game continued at a high pace with stand in goalie Ruairi OShea distributing well to the half back line of Cillian OBrien, Mark OSullivan & Oran Wiseman to set up attacks to leave the blues one point up at the break after some great play by Fionn ODonovan  & goals from Paddy Cronin & Eoin ONeill.

On resumption Bride Rovers used their imposing size to dominate the opening exchanges but hard work from Daire Kingston and Michael ODonovan and support from Dara McSweeney meant that the blues continued to fight hard. Rory Fitzgerald & Jack Sheedy won a lot of possession in the forward line with Eoghan ODonoghue passing well. Alex Cronin defended well on his introduction in the high tempo last quarter with both sides battling hard . The blues will feel disappointed to have lost this encounter having had four goal opportunities either brilliantly saved or hitting the upright in the second half.
